Refuse and Recycling Program

Welcome to the Centre Region COG Regional Refuse and Recycling homepage.

CRCOG's Regional Refuse and Recycling Program serves residents of Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton townships as their designated agent. CRCOG is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, contractor compliance and enforcement of the municipal solid waste & recycling ordinances.

Our mission is to promote public health, safety, and welfare and to eliminate public health hazards, environmental pollution, and economic loss in the Centre Region through the collection, transportation, and disposal of residential municipal waste.

New Contract for 2025-2030

A new Refuse and Recycling contract begins APRIL 1, 2025  for residents of Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton Townships with curbside collection of their refuse and recycling. Within the next year, we will provide education and outreach to let you know about changes coming in your curbside service, new costs, customer service contact details, and payment options. Go HERE for more information and to find a link to our Frequently Asked Questions at the bottom of that page.

Centre Region COG's Regional Refuse and Recycling Program will hold its Spring Collection of Bulk Waste from May 13 - 17, 2024. This special collection is only for residences with curbside collection of refuse and recycling in Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton Townships.  Go HERE for details on preparing your materials to ensure collection.

During Bulk Waste Week from May 13-17, 2024 neither TIRES nor COVERED ELECTRONIC DEVICES (computers, printers, televisions) will be collected.  In PA, neither tires nor these covered electronics can be collected for disposal in a landfill, so if you place these items at the curb during bulk waste week, they will be left behind.

Details on a separate collection of these items will be available soon.

The ONLY days when there will be no collection in 2024 are:

May 27

Memorial Day

July 4

Independence Day

September 2

Labor Day

November 28

Thanksgiving Day

December 25

Christmas Day

There will be a one-day delay for the rest of the week following each of those days, with Friday's collection taking place on Saturday.

Collection of both Refuse and Recycling will begin at 6 a.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
