Land Use, Sustainability, & Infrastructure Committee (LUSI)

• Study, review, and prepare recommendations on significant regional land use, housing, infrastructure, transportation, sustainability, and resource protection matters with cross-municipal impact.
  
  
• Monitor regional trends and progress toward adopted plans and goals, and ensure policy decisions are informed by objective data, performance measures, and regional analysis.
  
  
• Receive reports and coordinate with regional infrastructure and service providers (e.g., water, sewer, transit, stormwater, refuse and recycling) to understand regional impacts and inform policy decisions.
  
  
• Provide policy guidance on climate resilience, greenhouse gas reduction, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
  
  
• Recommend policies, bidding specifications, and major program actions related to the regional refuse and recycling system.
  
  
• Oversee implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Plan and associated growth management tools, including the Regional Growth Boundary and Sewer Service Area, and provide policy direction on housing, land use, and development patterns to support balanced regional growth.
  
  
• Support development, implementation, and periodic updates of the Comprehensive Plan, Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), Act 537 Plan, and other major long range planning initiatives.
  
  
• Coordinate with the Centre Regional Planning Commission, other COG committees, and partner agencies to ensure alignment across land use, infrastructure, public safety, transportation, and sustainability efforts.
  
  

The LUSI Committee typically meets on the first Thursday of each month at 12:15 PM in the COG General Forum Room and via Zoom.
