Passenger Rail Access Study
The Centre County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) invited the public to review and comment on the draft Centre County Passenger Rail Access Study during a 30‑day public review and comment period from Friday, July 17 through Monday, August 17, 2026. This comment period is now closed.
The Centre County Passenger Rail Access Study is intended to revisit the options and alternatives presented in the 2014 “Keystone West Feasibility Report and Service Development Plan (SDP)” with more of a local emphasis, assess demand for passenger rail service, identify the most sustainable options to improve access, and evaluate the willingness and ability of required partners to provide this access.
The study will also provide a recommended implementation plan identifying partners, costs, required agreements, and potential funding sources for providing the recommended improvements.
The Centre County Passenger Rail Access Study is being led by the CCMPO in coordination with local and county governments, transportation providers, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and a variety of other community stakeholders. The final study report is anticipated to be completed during Fall 2026.
