Well and Borehole
The objective of the well & borehole permitting process is to protect the quality of groundwater resources of the Spring Creek Watershed. Within the Watershed, groundwater produces 99% of public and private water supplies. Improper construction of wells and boreholes can negatively impact the quality of our groundwater.
Permitting and inspections apply to the construction, modification, alteration, termination and abandonment of all wells and boreholes that penetrate more than 20 feet below grade, including but not limited to domestic water supply wells, geothermal heat system wells and/or boreholes, geotechnical borings, test borings, agricultural wells, irrigation wells, commercial wells, industrial wells, and others.
A Well & Borehole Permit requires a completed application (below) and two (2) sets of site plans, each depicting the following:
- Property lines
- Location of wells
- Distances to buildings, septic field beds, and lot lines
Please contact the Code Office with any questions.
Please review Chapter 10 of the Centre Region Building Safety & Property Maintenance Code for further details.
