Residential Home

Participation:  In accordance with municipal ordinances for refuse and recycling collection in Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton Townships, all single family residences are required to participate individually in the Regional Refuse and Recycling Program, and are required to pay the contracted hauler for that service. All residential buildings with 4 or fewer residential units are also required to to have this service.

Exemptions are only provided for active farms of 10 or more acres, commercial properties, and residential buildings of 5 or more units.

 

Refuse Collection.  Refuse is collected weekly curbside by Burgmeier's Hauling Inc. (BHI) in refuse carts provided by BHI. The cost of this service is dependent on the size of the cart and any additional services as outlined below.

Unlimited recycling.  Curbside collection of recycling includes glass and plastic bottles, jugs & jars; metal cans and foils; mixed paper and paperboard; and corrugated cardboard.This service is provided by the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA) and is included in your refuse service.  Please see the flyer HERE for details on how to prepare your recycling to ensure collection in your red recycling bin.

Drop-off recycling is available for miscellaneous plastics and electronics. There is an annual drop-off collection of Household Hazardous Waste. Details of these opportunities can be found on the CCRRA's website HERE.

Collection Hours and Days: Curbside Collection begins at 7 A.M. except in the Summer.  Collection begins at 6 A.M. between Memorial and Labor Days.  All materials should be at the curb at the start of the collection time. Refuse and Recycling collection will always occur on the same day. To check your collection day, use our Interactive Map HERE. 

Billing and Customer Service:  Effective April 1, 2025, Billing and Customer Services are provided by the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA). Contact them to set up new service, manage your bills, or make a payment.
