Electrical Permits
Permits are required for all new commercial electrical projects that are not small jobs of direct repair or replacement. Generators, PV (solar) installations, fire alarm systems, and additional load to existing electrical systems also require permitting.
Application submissions require the following:.jpg)
- Completed building permit application.
- Two (2) sets of plans, sealed and signed by a PA design professional.
- Detailed, written description outlining all proposed work.
- Electrical service work requires a work request number that is assigned by West Penn Power (800) 255-3443.
- PV (solar) projects require the following:
- Genic number from West Penn Power
- Footer and wind loads for field arrays
- Engineering letter for roof supports
Note: Low voltage cables such as ethernet, coax (TV), telephone, fiber optic, etc. also require a permit.
Faxable permit applications are accepted for the following project types:
- New electrical services
- Service changes
- Hardwired, interconnected smoke alarm installations
