New Refuse and Recycling Service Effective April 1, 2025

Refuse and Recycling Program – New Contract for 2025-2030

New Contract:              

  • Burgmeier’s Hauling Inc. (BHI) will be providing refuse collection using hauler-owned carts.
  • Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA) will continue to collect recycling in red bins.
  • Refuse and Recycling collection will always be on the same day.
  • CCRRA will provide Billing and Customer Service.
  • Centre Region COG Refuse and Recycling Program will continue to provide service to residents and townships.

Cart delivery and use:

  • Carts were delivered to each address and were be placed in the best location for collection.
  • Each cart came with two card hangers that include:
    • Day of collection
    • How to place carts for collection
    • What to put in the cart and what cannot go in the cart
    • Contact details for assistance or information
    • If your new cart did not arrive with both of its card hangers intact, you can find them HERE.
    • If you did not receive a cart, need an additional cart, or wish to switch your cart size, please contact one of us (see contacts below). You will be able to switch your cart size ONE time for free through June of 2025. New residents can switch the size of the cart left at the property for free.
  • How to use your cart:
    • Every residence must use the hauler-owned cart. Do not place refuse out in your old can. The first chart below provide information on how to recycle your old trash cans.
    • The lid of the cart should close tightly to discourage interference from birds and animals. 
    • Extra bags beside the cart (leave 3 feet between the cart and bags) will be charged $4 per bag. If the cart is so full that bags sit fully or mostly outside the cart they too will incur a charge of $4.

First Invoice:

  • Invoices will arrive by mail  from the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority (CCRRA).
  • Invoices will include the  contact information, how to set up online account and autopay, and payment options, plus a separate flyer for HHW and Bulk Waste.
  • The invoice envelope will also contain the COG R&R Newsletter which will include service levels and costs, how to schedule bulk waste collection, disposal of yard wastes, contact details, and holidays in 2025
