Addition

The permit process for an addition is a two-step procedure:

  1. The property owner first applies for a zoning permit at the local municipality. This typically involves submitting a permit application and two sets of building plans - drawn to scale - for zoning approval.
  2. Once zoning approval is obtained, the project document package must then be picked up and submitted to the Code Office for a building permit application review and approval.

Please note that the permit applicant is responsible for providing the construction details and all pertinent information on the plans to verify building code compliance. Please note the following:

  • See Centre Region Code Administration Submission Coversheet. The cover sheet is an outline that identifies what is required to accompany plans. Refer also to Commercial Plan Submittal Guide (below) for further details and requirements
  • Special inspections may be required
  • Refer to “Permit Fees” to calculate the permit fee and deposit due when plans are submitted.
