October 29, 2020: COVID-19 Update from the Centre Region Emergency Management Program
Centre Region Specific News:
- State College Borough: Following reports of several large parties last weekend, State College Police, in conjunction with the Penn State University Police Department, are conducting a follow-up investigation to identify persons who were part of these illegal gatherings. Police will use video recordings from these incidents to assist in identifying persons involved with the intent of issuing citations for the violation(s) and for those who are Penn State students, also referring to Penn State’s Office of Student Conduct for university sanctions.
- In addition, State College Borough and Penn State University administrators have been in contact with numerous complexes to request their assistance. Those contacted have agreed to assist by restricting access to their common areas in their buildings and have begun to assist in the police investigation.
- State College Borough: From Monday, October 19, to Sunday, October 25, there were 17 temporary emergency ordinance violations reported to the police department that resulted in the issuance or filing of 6 citations. Since enactment, there have been a total of 82 citations issued for violations.

- College Township: College Township officials remind residents of the Township's gathering restrictions. Additionally, the Township has communicated with owners and businesses with large parking lots of the gathering restrictions. - Penn State: The University announced several parking, traffic and tailgating restrictions ahead of the Ohio State game. University parking lots will be monitored and tailgating is prohibited. - Penn State: The University met with several local landlords to discuss the need for better monitoring of student gatherings this weekend. In addition, Penn State Police, State College Police and the PA State Police will be patrolling areas where students tend to congregate to help with compliance.

- As of October 29th, there are 193,611 cases in PA. 2,282,828 people have tested negative for COVID-19.
- As of October 29th, there are 4,024 cases in Centre County. 36,207 people have tested negative for COVID-19.
