COVID-19 Update from the Centre Region Emergency Management Program, March 30, 2020

Centre Region Specific News:


  • The Centre Region Emergency Operations Center has been activated by Shawn Kauffman. This is a level 2 virtual activation, which is a partial activation of EOC staff using remote meeting software. A daily call has been scheduled with staff to get updates on operations.

  • Local Earned Income Tax Filing Due date: State legislation was passed late last week authorizing the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to coordinate with local political subdivisions to extend filing and payment deadlines for the Local Earned Income Tax. At this point, Centre Tax Agency is awaiting confirmation from the DCED and our Tax Collection Committee (TCC) to extend the 2019 Earned Income & Net Profits Tax (EIT) return/payment due date and the 2020 1st Quarter Estimated Declaration payment due dates until July 15, 2020. Once we have an official statement, an update will be provided.

  • All playgrounds and pavilions owned by the Centre Region COG and the Centre Region municipalities have been closed. Signs have been posted at each facility.   • Advanced Disposal has postponed bulk waste collection for residents in Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton Townships. A new date has not been selected yet.

News from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania:

  • The Governor extended the Stay At Home Order to April 30th. The order has been extended to 26 counties.

  • There are now 4,087 cases in PA.

  • The date for the primary election has been moved to June 2nd. Residents can take advantage of vote by mail for the first time in PA. More information can be found here: https://www.pavoterservices.pa.gov/OnlineAbsenteeApplication/#/OnlineAbsenteeBegin

  • The REAL ID deadline has been moved from 2020 to 2021.

  • Drivers Licenses expiring March 16th-31st have been extended to April 30th.
