Mayor Filippelli Proclaims Sunday, May 3, “Bells Across Pennsylvania Day”: Mayor Ronald L. Filippelli has issued a proclamation in support of “Bells Across Pennsylvania Day,” an initiative of the Pennsylvania State Mayors’ Association which will take place on May 3, 2020. The threefold purpose of the initiative is:

To recognize and honor first responders, healthcare workers, and employees of grocery stores, pharmacies and other life-sustaining businesses who have maintained essential services while at risk of infection from COVID-19;
To show solidarity with elected officials and residents of municipalities across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, all of whom are fighting COVID-19 on the front lines together; and
To demonstrate a collective resolve that Pennsylvanians will prevail over COVID-19 and work tirelessly to ensure that their businesses and civic life will thrive once again.
The State College Borough is encouraging residents to hold whatever events “sheltering in place” will allow. Then at 7:00 p.m., all Pennsylvanians and churches will be encouraged to ring bells for three minutes – one minute for each of the above purposes. News from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania:

The Governor extended the Stay At Home Order to May 8th. The Governor announced his approach to re-opening the state. You can read more about the red/yellow/green phasing here: https://www.governor.pa.gov/newsroom/gov-wolf-reopening-targeted-for-may-8-in-north-central-northwest/

The Governor will announce which counties will move to the yellow phase on May 1st.

The Governor expanded the food recovery infrastructure grant to help nonprofit agencies. You can read more here: https://www.governor.pa.gov/newsroom/wolf-administration-expands-food-recovery-infrastructure-grants-to-help-the-charitable-food-system/

There are now 43,264 cases in PA. There are 93 cases in Centre County. 850 people have tested negative for COVID-19.
