REFUSE what cannot be recycled
Batteries
Rechargeable Batteries:Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Small Sealed Lead (Pb) batteries can be recycled at several stores that sell electronics and tools (Staples, Lowe's, Home Depot, Best Buy) and at the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority.
Lead Acid Batteries: Automotive batteries cannot be disposed of in the trash. They should be taken to any store that sells lead acid batteries.
Alkaline Batteries:These can be recycled, but usually only through a pay-for recycling service such as Call2Recycle, Earth 911, or TerraCycle. Alkaline batteries can be disposed of in your trash, but please cover the terminals on all 9V batteries with electrical tape.
Don't want to throw all those batteries in the trash? Rechargeable batteries are a great option.
