Open Burn

  • A burn permit is required when burning of materials wherein products of combustion are emitted directly into the air without passing through a stack or chimney from an enclosed chamber.
  • Recreational fires do not require a permit but must be at least 25 feet from a structure. Portable outdoor fireplaces, used in accordance with the manufacturers instructions, shall be used 15 feet from any structure. Please check with your local municipality for any additional permitting requirements.

Burning of construction materials and structures is prohibited.

Please contact our office with any questions at (814) 231-3056, and ask to speak to a fire inspector before burning.
