Temporary Structures
- A tent is a temporary structure that consists of a roof and sides. A canopy is a temporary structure that only consists of a roof. A minimum of a 5lb ABC extinguisher shall be visibly mounted in the temporary structure. The travel distance for each fire extinguisher is 75 feet.
- A permit is required to erect and operate from any tent or temporary structure in excess of 200 square feet, and for canopies in excess of 400 square feet.

- Be sure to reach out to your municipality's zoning office to ask if a zoning permit is required.
When submitting a building permit for your temporary structure please provide the following:
- Completed Temporary Tent Permit
We also need 1. Set up date
2. Event Date
3. Tear Down Date
2. Zoning Approval, if applicable
3. The Fire Rating Certificate from the tent manufacturer
4. A rough sketch of where the tent will be placed, a screenshot from Google with a drawing of where the tent would be is also accepted
5. $25.00 cash, check or money order
