Trash Collection - Residential

Waste Management is now the contracted hauler in Benner, College, Ferguson, Harris, and Patton Townships to collect refuse and recycling from all residential properties defined as single family detached dwellings, duplexes, mobile homes, and townhouses and apartment buildings comprised of 2, 3 or 4 dwelling units. Waste Management is the contracted hauler for the Refuse and Recycling Program through the current contract period, from January 1, 2020 to March 31, 2025 because they acquired Advanced Disposal Service in 2020.

The following are exempt from the Regional Refuse and Recycling Program:

  • Commercial properties.
  • Active farms larger than 10 acres. 
  • Multi-unit complexes (apartments, townhouses) whose residents dispose of refuse in a shared dumpster.
  • Any properties in the State College Borough - contact the Department of Public Works at (814) 234-7140 for information about the Borough's refuse and recycling requirements.
  • Any properties in Halfmoon Township.
